เมื่อวันที่ 2 มิถุนายน 2564 สถานการณ์ชายแดนไทย=เมียนมา อ.แม่สอด จ.ตาก ทหารรัฐบาลเมียนมา ที่กำลังรบกับทหารกะเหรี่ยงดีเคบีเอ.กลุ่มอิสระ ของพันเอกจ่อแต้ ทั้งอาวุธปืนค.60 และอาวุธอื่นๆนั้น ทางฝ่ายทหารเมียนมาได้ใช้ปืนอาร์พีจี.ยิงเข้ามาเขตไทย ลงไปใกล้จุดผู้ลี้ภัยกว่า 400 คน อาศัยอยู่ในคอกวัวบริเวณเมยโค้ง หรือใกล้เกาะมะนาว บ้านแม่โกนเกน ตำบลมหาวัน อ.แม่สอด กระสุนได้เกิดระเบิด แต่ไม่มีผู้ใดได้รับอันตราย ขณะที่ทางเจ้าหน้าที่ไทย ซึ่งมีทั้งทหาร และฝ่ายปกครอง รวมทั้งผู้ลี้ภัยต่างแตกตื่นหลบกันจ้าละหวั่น
ล่าสุดมีผู้ลี้ภัยเข้ามาอีก 31 คน แม้นมีการสู้รบ เจ้าหน้าที่ก็ยังไม่ย้ายกลุ่มผู้ลี้ภัยไปยังจุดที่ปลอดภัย คงอยู่ในคอกวัวของชาวบ้านใกล้กับแม่น้ำเมย
การสู้รบดังกล่าว ฝ่ายเมียนมาได้ใช้อาวุธปืนค.61 ยิงสนับสนุนจากฐานอาวุธหนัก ที่บริเวณเลเกตอ ห่างจากบ้านผาลูโพ จังหวัดเมียวดี ประเทศเมียนมา
แหล่งข่าวแจ้งว่า กลุ่มกองกำลังพิทักษ์ประชาชน (PDF.) ได้ร่วมกับฝ่ายทหารดีเคบีเอ.ในการโจมตีทหารเมียนมา และล่าสุดฝ่ายกะเหรี่ยงดีเคบีเอ.ได้ปล่อยตัวตำรวจเมียนมา และเจ้าหน้าที่ดับเพลิง ทั้งหมด 4 คนแล้ว โดยไม่ทำอันตรายใดๆ
